A scientist studying the melting of glaciers

Today, June 8, is the World Ocean Day.

Oceans are the lungs of our planet, they produce 50% of all the oxygen needed for life.

🏔 And to continue this subject, we want to tell you the story of Gulbara Omorova, a young scientist who studies lakes and glaciers. She goes on monthly expeditions to the Adygene Glacier and monitors it. Adygene, located in the Ala Archa Gorge, is among Kyrgyzstan’s most rapidly melting and degrading glaciers.

▫️These stories on climate change were produced by the public foundation Kurama Story Lab.
